Personal life

Caldwell hailed from Fairfax County, Virginia, where he spent his formative years and fortuitously crossed paths with his future writing partner, Dustin Thomason. They both completed their education at the esteemed Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in 1994. Caldwell’s intellectual journey led him to Princeton University, where he excelled and graduated with high honors as a member of the esteemed Phi Beta Kappa society. In 1998, he proudly received his A.B. degree in history, having devoted himself to an extensive 127-page senior thesis titled “The French Popular Front and the Debate over Intervention in the Spanish Civil War,” meticulously supervised by the esteemed Thomas J. Dandelet.

Post-college life ushered in a new chapter for Caldwell as he delved into the realm of literature alongside Thomason, ardently working on their inaugural novel. Concurrently, Caldwell embarked on a professional endeavor at MicroStrategy in Tyson Corner, immersing himself in a corporate environment. Additionally, he shared his knowledge and expertise by teaching test preparation courses for Kaplan in the vibrant city of Blacksburg, all the while supporting his wife, Meredith, as she pursued her DVM degree at Virginia Tech. Initially residing in Newport News, Virginia, they later chose Vienna, Virginia, as their abode, where they wholeheartedly nurtured their three cherished offspring: Ethan, Jude, and Luke.
